About the Red Panda
The red panda (Ailurus fulgens) is a small arboreal mammal native to the eastern Himalayas and southwestern China. Despite its name, it is not closely related to the giant panda. It is recognized by its reddish-brown coat, rounded face, white facial markings, small rounded ears, and long ringed tail.
Red pandas are highly adapted to life in trees and spend much of their time moving through forest canopies. Their distinctive facial markings and expressive features make them one of the most recognizable small mammals found in Asian mountain forests.
Design Inspiration
We were drawn to the red panda's unmistakable round face, expressive eyes, small ears, and contrasting facial markings. At Lemonschunks, we transformed these distinctive features into a playful wearable design using layered acetate and carefully placed details.
The rich chocolate-brown color gives this version a warm, cozy character while keeping the recognizable look of the red panda. Our realistic approach focuses on the animal's natural facial features rather than turning it into an overly cartoon-like design.
